Re: 553 If the penciled notation on the PF page above is what is worded on the cert, then it is a negative opinion, isn't it? It's no different from evidence of blind perfs... it's not actually an imperf between. |

Regarding Lot 553... so the prevailing opinion here is that it is not a R25b but rather a lightly-miss perf vertical pair? |

That is what the Philatelic Foundation certificate states. The image form the auction does show a suspicious line in between the stamps as well. |

PF certificate numbers are generally sequential chronologically, so if this certificate is not an exception to that pattern then the certificate date for certificate 245105 would be somewhere in the 1990-1992 era. |

It's possible that the "1972" in the auction listing is a typo, when they meant "1992". Also, it's easily possible that the same item was certed in both 1972 and 1992. |

I set my sights on Lot 749 but didn't even come close.
Can anybody shed some light on what they saw that would make this lot go for 6500? I saw a couple of desirable items, but don't know that I would have pegged it for that kind of money.
Thoughts? |

Not having seen the lot in person, there could be some rarity in there that is not shown in the photos. Given that the original estimate was $750-1,000, there obviously was something in there that someone (in theory at least two someones) saw. |

I emailed Richard regarding the lot 7, R1d and he replied the cancellation date may be a little too early and would definitely need to be certified.I tried to acquire this lot but no matter how much I raised my bid I was outbid. I stopped at $1200 knowing someone was going to outbid me no matter what! |

There seems to be a lot of hidden value in lot 749. For example I thought I saw a block of 12 of the counterfeit of the RB11. There were some plate blocks as well, better beers, better M&M's, The $5 war savings appears rouletted, the Wells, Fargo and other company express labels are nice, better Cinderellas, and a lot of other stuff. Impossible to truly value this lot without actually viewing it. |

There were several blocks and singles of the RB11 counterfeit sprinkled across several lots in the auction. |

Even at $50-$75 each retail you have already hit about the low estimate for the whole lot. In one item. |

Here's hoping the winner of 749 is an SCF member and will share some photos of some of the hidden gems in this lot. |

Got my invoice yesterday. A positive: They don't gouge you on shipping the way some other auction houses do. Also, they are... "motivated" with respect to unsold lots. As of yesterday afternoon there were 68 unsold lots out of 773. Most were unsold for a reason. |
