hello all, These were found in a random bag. They are green and measure perf 11 and have a vertical distance of 22 3/4. There has got to be something that is not 596 about these, help!

Having a bit of gum left on these stamps is not adding any value. If desired you can soak the paper off by floating them in clear, cool water. The top/bottoms perforations of the stamps shown above are 10 1/2, not 11. Here is one of your stamps with the left hand perforations digitally compared to the top and bottom; if your stamp was 11x11 the perforations would align. You can emulate the same thing by comparing the perforations with a stamp of known perforations (ie. a stamp which was only made with perf 11). Don |

I am going to soak them, get that paper off them and probably send them to aps. I have been sending items to aps. How much are these worth? |

As you show/see your perf gauge is fine. The 11 perfs do not line up. All of the perfs must line up. Show a picture using the perf gauge with 10.5. As Don states forget measuring the design. Too many variables. You are in need of sending off for any certs yet on any stamps. Much more to learn first. Use the SCF "search function" on any stamp subjects and stamp smarter. http://www.stampsmarter.com/index.html |

The tool is not the problem. Look at the arrows I added to one of your pictures. The left arrow and the right arrow are both centered on the perf marks on the tool. I put the arrows right in the center. But the left arrow points to the left part of a perf on the stamp and the right arrow points to the right part of a perf. To get the right measurement all the perf marks should line up against the stamp perfs in the same way. Ideally, the center of the perf mark aligns with the center of the perf. What you can see in your picture is that the perf marks do not align with the stamp perfs. So the picture reports that it is definitely not a perf 11. |
