I'm sorting through my Washington stamps and came across this one that when attempting to measure it's perfs, something didn't seem right...

I measured 10 horizontal but vertical doesn't match any measurements on my part gauge

Am I simply not aligning it properly, has it been altered/damaged, or is it counterfeit?

A small difference would be no cause for alarm, especially since the stamp is used. Soaking it in water may have changed the size just enough to be noticeable but does not make it a variety

Looks like perf 10 all around to me. Please show a pic of the side perfs next to the perf 10 markings on your perf guage.

There is nothing wrong with your stamp due to soaking, etc. The perforation rates stated by Scott are rounded slightly (or more than slightly!) to the nearest half. Scott's "perf 10" is only close to perf 10. The closest fit is what it is going to be ... perf 10 all around.

The flip side could be that you perf gauge is slightly large/small. Have you checked the 2cm length against a trusted ruler for accuracy?

Okay, so I lined it up with the part gauge again, this time with a ruler o press it flat, and was able to match it up to 10. Lol, looks like y'all were right. Thanks for the help.

Brooke - It is "perforation" not "part".
