Found this in an auction lot won a while ago and was hoping someone could verify if it's legit or not.

Identified as Scott #353 mint never hinged pair with 2mm spacing. My gauge measures the spacing at 2.5mm.

Since a MNH pair catalogs at $525.00 was wondering if maybe it's fabricated? Any suggestions?

Perfs seem a bit wonky to me or right, borders seem trimmed on right too. Top and bottom borders seem narrow but that is more difficult to judge. I thought perfs on flat plate coils were aligned randomly...not on this pair.

The perforations have no chance of being genuine. Perforations on the left are closer to the design at the bottom than the top. Ditto for the perforations on the right, making the pair a trapezoid. Also, the top and bottom margins look skimpy.

Intermediate spacings sell for approximately the same as the cheaper of the two listed spacings.

The note in the 2019 Scott US Specialized Catalog confirms that intermediate spacings exist due to uneven paper shrinkage.

In my hobbyist opinion...the perfs at right are clearly not right, the middle perfs are not right, the left perfs may not be right, the top and bottom may have been trimmed.

But hopefully Clark will weigh in.

It also doesn't appear to be cut evenly at the top...the space between the top and the design is greater on the right end than the left.

Thanks for the input all. I'm not looking to buy it, just found it tucked in a stockbook from an auction lot.
