You have thrown up a curly one there KG5

The brace of 2d reds with selvedge, show a Neswpaper wrapper
postmark.
And at 1931 I would guess fairly early
I don't recall anything that would cost 4d

Keep that one for research.

What an education, Rod! More info again on postmarks that I had no idea about & the out of step 4d newspaper cost I will note. Thanks for the info. KGV

Image: another example of a postally used Ash imprint block of 4:

The Australian Stamp Monthly is a great record on the increasingly long list of varieties & shows some of the early steps taken by the forefathers of KGV stamping as we know it. It is very interesting.

Extra note: Maybe the postally used Ash imprint pair with newspaper postmark could have been wrapped around 2 newspapers.
KGV.

Good theory KG5
we need to do more research on those.

I think we can eventually get the PO from the ash imprint 4
"Sydney No6" will have a location.
The only place I have seen these discussed is ASM,
so it's going to be serendipity if I ever read it again
this lifetime :)

Just opened *Stamp News Australia*, March 2010. On page 2 "this month's special offers" advertisment by Richard Juzwin boasts a vertical strip of 3 5d brown KGVs with N.W.P.I overprint but with added overprint at bottom of stamps, "one penny" cancelled Rabaul AUD $725.00. A pair of 1d red "rosine" rough paper perf "OS" FU normal N.W.P.I overprint AUD$875.00 & a single 1d red rosine rough paper die II perf "OS" normal N.W.P.I oveprint FU AUD $ 1,750.00. Way outside my budget but interesting. An extra N.W.P.I with "one penny" overprint is also on a vertical strip of 3. 1s roos Rabaul cancel AUD$ 850.00. Absolutely beautiful looking stamps. KGV.

PhilB 3,600> posts, we are not worthy
Thanks for those kind words,
All credit should go to KG5.

KG5 the beauty about digital philately, now we can
just about have every issue in our collection, even if it is "faux"
I keep scans of the vastly expensive
from auction magazines. I have no problem with that.

Hope you are doing well with your Postmarks, my advice keep,
or at least be vigilant with Tasmanian postmarks, there's dollars in them hills.
I've kept your image of "Registered Branch num1 Launceston"
that's a nice one.

* Thanks, philb. It's very flattering & humbling all round.

* Thanks, Rod for a great answer, but it's not just me. You have added a lot of spice to this thread.

* The real credit goes to the Stamp Community Forum Family for having a safe forum where people can share their information without the fear of being belittled, screamed at & bashed to a pulp by egotistical supernovas that need to squash others so that they can feel like someone. Calm down KGV...Keep smiling! Thanks to all! Happy stamping. KGV

A pleasure, Rod. Hope the image works.

Well done Jubilee, Tunbridge indeed,
another name captured from England, early settlers wanted to be reminded of home.
I checked my tantalising list of missing Tasmanian postoffices, no luck of course, Tunbridge being a major coach stop between Launceston and Hobart.
We keep looking.....
