I have a whole set of the 1870 Plate proofs on thick card with huge margins labeled "India paper proofs mounted on original card backing. A very unique combination."

Does anyone know anything about india proofs being mounted on card originally? Are these scare or premium items?

Here are three of them scanned (153P3, 154P3, 155P3)

the card is normally very large with the proof mounted in the middle - the ones you have are cut down

these as stated are cut down large die proofs. take them with you to chicagopex and I am sure all of your questions will be answered. by the way its a nice group and makes a fine addition to a collection.

These are not die proofs. They are India paper plate proofs affixed to card blotters. Margin copies.
