I'm not sure, but my guess is that in the 1950's France, gambling was only allowed in private clubs reserved to members. To play in a casino/club, you should become member.
No problem: you pay a fee for a "temporary membership" (like the shown card, for 7 days)and you're free to enter and play... This temporary membership card is what I've called "a casino card". |

I have a Casino Membership card (plastic) for Perth,
Not for the gambling, but it offers discounts and other benefits
in the Dining Room, and Coffee etc overlooking the Swan river.
They also have a gigantic Screen in the Sports bar
for watching cricket and the Rugby World cup.

Unknown. (Austrian Whiskey Revenue?) Vignette shows an awkward moment between Hermes and Justice, I think she is annoyed that he isn't wearing shorts. Note the Beehive indicating thrift. Industry.  |

Don't think I've posted this one here yet: Duttia State (India) ½ Anna handstamped, probably from the 1890s   but used around 1917 as a postage stamp as well (and not currently listed in either Gibbons or Scott. If you find this with an obvious postmark hang onto it!) |

An early 1900's Spanish Guinea revenue stamp, used to pay part of the postage of 4.5 kg of unroasted coffee beans from San Carlos, Fernando Poo Island (Spanish Guinea, now Equatorial Guinea)to Barcelona in 1941. A feast for our starving grandfathers! It's a pity a stamp is missing  |
