J-11 just came back from the PF with a new Cert, and with with its placement into my album, now completes my Postage Dues. My emphasis will now shift to U.S. possessions/trust territories as I try to complete Ryukyu. The provincials are proving to be extremely challenging. I would love to see anybody else's recent BOB acquisition(s).

Quote: Very nice. How long did it take to receive the cert.? .....A little over a month, which was not bad. |

Very impressive! Have never seen all of the special printings together before. How difficult is it to distinguish between J1-J7 and J8-J14? Is the difference in paper type at all obvious? I ask this realizing that every special printing issue automatically calls for certification. I've always found the early dues a bit difficult to navigate and am a bit curious about the rare ones. |

When I acquired J-13, which was my first SP, several differences between these and the regularly issued J-1 through J-7 became immediately apparent. The color of the SPs shades more towards brown and the contrast between the numeral and the background is more dramatically contrasted, almost a cameo-like effect; or as SPs were first described to me by Scott Trepel, "the color and contrast POP." It's hard to capture the distinctions in a pic, but the color/appearance of the SPs are unique and unmistakable. All of mine have PF or PSE certs, and I would NEVER advocate buying these stamps without a valid cert. |

Very Nice Collection of the special printing. I bought a collection of stamps that had postage dues...i will have to go check and see if I have any potentials. I doubt I do, but worth a check. |

Reedededge, A nice page! Do you have the rest of the postage dues complete, and if so, how do you define "complete" in terms of shades, gum, wet/dry? I am always curious when someone says "complete". |

To follow up on John Becker's question, do you include the dry/dull gum varieties from the 1959 series? If yes, I assume you would likely be missing the dull gum J92 that was written up in the United States Specialist a couple of years ago? While I don't think the dull gum J92 has appeared yet in Scott, it is my understanding that it likely would be included in the near future. And whether your answer is yes or no, it doesn't in the least detract from your truly amazing accomplishment. Thanks yet again for sharing! |
