Hi,

I am a new member on this forum and started to get back into my stamps hobby a month back, thanks to COVID
the first thing I did, buying a couple of lots and then started on working on them. Found these in mint condition.
I am bit new to valuing stamps. I am looking into getting as much of help/info/advice.
Are these the expensive ones? #129300; As I see very high values. There is 1 stamp on top mint but glued to one of the stamps n its color is darker compared to others.
how should I proceed with the investigation

thanks.

Welcome.
No, not the rare ones. It is best to always start your discovery with the assumption that you have the most common varieties (since this is the case 99% of the time). You can learn more about these stamps here http://stampsmarter.com/1847usa/192...ntifier.html (note the booklet designation for your booklet above)

The stamps above are all Flat plate printing. The booklet appears to be #634d.

To remove the stuck stamp on top, I would try using a lightly wet small paint brush to see if I could soften the gum from the top (without impacting the booklet pane). Once removed, you can start by checking the perforations to ID the top stamp.

Coil stamps have perforation only on two parallel sides (like those shown below)

Edit: Correction, I have been informed that my hasty reply was incorrect, the top stamp is a perf 10 rotary #683.

Catalogue value for a 583 in very fine condition is $3 for previously hinged and $6.25 for never hinged. But your stamp most certainly does not have VF centering … and the gum is unlikely to be pristine after removal from the pane. Catalogue value for very good centering with pristine gum would be about $1. Retail value is less than CV and for your stamp would be negligible.
Added: CV for a full pane of 634d is even less … $1.50 for unused, $2.50 for never hinged. But once again, this assumes VF condition. In perfect condition, your stamps would have total CV of less than $10. As they are, total value probably less than $2.
