Some versions for sale on line contain two volumes at around 1,100 pages. Some say only around 700 pages. [Same year (more or less).] Seems that those containing two volumes go up to 1960 in vol. 1. Vol. 2 adds variétés from subsequent years. Do the editions of only 700 pages go only up to 1960? Can't find good info so far.

PS I'm looking for French versions, not English.

From my search of this forum, I get the impression that the smaller edition does indeed go only up to 1960 and the larger goes beyond that. Correct?

The addition of a paperback volume to cover later issues is a recent innovation. Earlier single volumes include issues up to the publication date.

I have the 2018 Maury catalogues.
The hardbound volume of 724 pages goes up to the end of 1959
The paperback volume continues with pages 725 to 1114 and
goes from 1960 to November 2016.

I bought the Maury mainly because the catalogue lists
the designers and engravers which YT does not.

Even though my French is very limited I have no problem
with it in most cases.

Thank you both. I've ordered the hardbound at 724 pages, inasmuch as I collect mainly up to around 1950. Eager to see how Maury compares to Yvert & Tellier, which I've used to organize my French collection. Glad you could help me decide which volume to buy.

I find it very confusing trying to figure out the Maury catalogs for Colonies and Dom-Tom. They seem to be issued periodically by area- e.g. Africa, Asia, etc. To this day I am not sure when each was last published or how to find them.

As I recall, Spink had no plans to publish new editions of the other French area catalogues, which were, I gather, never well-distributed even at the time of publication. The Africa (green, 2014-15) and Asia (blue, 2011-12) volumes are worth looking out for. I bought both via ebay, albeit some time ago.

I have the 2010-2011 Maury for French Africa (black cover) and it's a great resource - more detailed than the Yvert for the same area. From what I've heard, the 2011 is not much different from the 2015 edition. But certainly wasn't too easy to find.
