I have inherited a large amount of mostly US Commemoratives , many in full sheets and some with numbers on the edges. Unfortunately several have stuck together from moisture. Is there anyway to separate them and keep the glue mostly intact? Is steaming an option? Any guidance will be appreciated. Thank you.

Steaming them will remove the gum. You can try the very gentle bending them back and forth to see if they break loose. You can also try putting them in the freezer. Other than those, soaking would be the answer but would remove the gum.

My opinion is that once stuck, any method will result in 'disturbed gum' (at best) or thinned, ruined stamps (at worst). Typically soaking them is your best bet at minimizing risk of damage.

Heartily agree.
My attempts at anything otherwise, over the years ALWAYS ended in misery.

Soak the stuck ones. Then use them for postage. Use a glue stick.
If you decide to do this you can break up the sheets with damage and sell the undamaged one for postage, usually at some discount off the face value.
