Hi. This is the first time I have seen this pattern. Being on a "Germania Head" issue is well before the Third Reich era. The swastika was also a symbol of good luck before it became infamously known as the Nazi symbol. I am wondering if it was used by some company as their logo. I would also like to know who used this pattern.

This is not a Nazi swastika but a Buddhist symbol.

Randy,
I do not recall seeing this as such, prior.
As far as I know, it was an indian "Jain" symbol.
Happy to be corrected.

It appears to be the perfin of the Hintz Factory in Berlin. They are still in business today (spelled "Hinz"), manufacturing office products.

Interesting. I have some ancient Roman pottery with the swastika on it. The Nazis adopted this as a symbol and reversed it so you can usually tell which is German Nazi and which is the ancient symbol.

Also, the swastika was used as a symbol for the Finnish Air Force beginning in 1918, predating Hitler's completely unrelated 1920 adoption of it.

In 2017, the Finns quietly retired their usage of the swastika.

The swastika (called manji in Japanese) is frequently used to indicate Buddhist temples on Japanese maps.

And here you can see it on the noren (door curtains) at Chingo-dô, one of the buildings in the Sensô-ji temple complex in Tokyo.
