I have sorted through everything I was given, I have 4 boxes of duplicate first day issues. Ranging from 1930-2000. What would be the best way to sell those? I would like to sell the duplicate stamps and first day issues that I have so I can buy missing first day issues and missing stamps for my collection.
I know that a dealer will give you way less, is it better to sell them on your own? What about a company like Mystic? I'd like to get as much as possible so I can buy the things I'm missing in my collection.
Thanks a bunch!

It will depend on who the cachet makers were, but in general there are too many FDC;s on the market. The ones from 1930 up to roughly 1945 may still have some value and be easier to sell, but after that they generally wholesale for about 5c-10c each for the most common cachet makers. |

As an example, having worked through a large collection of French FDCs that I acquired, I sold the duplicates on ebay @£10 for 100. |

Is it permissible to ask for value advice on here for a few old ones that I have? I have a first day issue set of scotts 803 -834. I can take pictures. Those seem to be higher priced on ebay. Thanks |

Anyone can ask any price on ebay, what is more informative is how much any matching listing actually sold for. You can filter ebay searches for just 'sold' items by using the check box on the left hand side of the ebay search page as shown here Don |

Also as stated above it matters who did the cachet (if any) on FDCs. Photos will help us help you.

JayR It helps to know the countries involved, the approximate date range, conditions, how stored (e.g. hinges, mounts or glued down )(yes that happens). In other words - some details. |

Here are the FDC's that I was referring to. I have one full set in one Cachet and all but the last three in another. I have no idea which one is more valuable. The full set is in the book. Also, is there a significance to it saying that it is registered? Thanks. |

@CanadaStamp. All of my stamps in my collection from 1900 on are generally mint never hinged. I will need help with finding good resources on how to identify pre 1900's stamps. Especially the first 600 or so Scotts numbers. |

$2 and $5 Prexies FDCs are cataloging at $100 and $160 for the most common ones. $1 for $50 and others from this set for few bucks. However, in general FDCs are hard to sell. The best way to sell stamps for someone who knows nothing about them would be through a stamp action house. They can give you an advise on their value and sell them for you for good price if there is good value in your collection (like thousands of dollars). However, if there are only few hundred bucks, they likely will not bother with them. You can also find a local stamp club and take your collection there. |
