Engraved Stamps - Take 2

2002 Vatican City #1214 - 300th Anniversary of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, engraved by Slania.

Is that supposed to be Slania's signature in the selvage?

I was sent this nice sheet recently as part of an ongoing trade.
One of the more unusual that Slania did (middle).

and I finally received the Monaco version of the Princess Grace joint issue.

Slania created an excellent likeness of Princess Grace. I love his work. I found an image of Princess Grace which appears to have been the photo he used to create the stamp.

Those are a couple of nice items Anthony.

Here is one of Slania's earlier works from 1952 when he was still
living in Poland.

Notice the abbreviations del. et sc. before his name which
indicates he was not only the engraver but also the designer.

Lithograving: it was advertized as Slania's signature and it appears to match other signatures that I've seen. I was able to get this item on ebay a few years ago.

Another thread that needs a bump...

I'm just sorting through some of my Germany accumulation and though this was a bit special.

That is a nice one Anthony. West Germany did not issue
very many engraved stamps but some were well done.

Here is one I really like.

West Germany/Berlin



The stamp below does not portray the Spandau Prison which
until 1987 housed Nazi war criminals and was then demolished.
Spandau Citadel is one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortresses of Europe.

They are very nice Litho.
Just found another.
The famous German women series is a quite nice, simplistic design but is a very big set.

Really nice engravings. Same engraver?
I have no idea about German stamps.
There's too much stuff out there.

Very well engraved Anthony. The German women series is excellent,
pity I only have a few of them, all used.

Andrew, the 80 pf Karl Barth was engraved by E. Falz.

For the Berlin stamps the engravers were :

30 pf Egon Falz
40 pf Lück ( I'm unable to find his christian name)
50 pf Hans Joachim Fuchs

All were printed by the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin.

Luckily I kept my old 1991/1992 Michel Deutschland because the
newer catalogues don't have the engravers listed anymore.
