Hi, I have this red used Queen Victoria (large head) from 1868. As you can see it's in fairly good condition, with thin cancel.

I can include a scan of the back but that doesn't show much because it is quite white and smooth. Also the stamp is neither thin nor very thick to the feel. Because of this, I assume laid paper (http://canadianphilately.blogspot.c...-types.html)

I wonder about the value because the only references I get are wove paper.

Bloemzee, yours is a small queen # 41. The laid paper is from large queen, 1869 issue, per attached image. Note the difference in design.

https://www.stampsandcanada.com/sta...p=1297&cat=1 for sure with an average stamp this is not really a rare one it seems. Thanks for directing me to 1888! Getting more curious about cancels...got quite a few odd ones it seems.

To be precise, the cancel reads: C. P. RY. OTT & PT. ARTHUR (Canadian Pacific Railway, Ottawa and Port Arthur (now part of Thunder Bay). The rarity is considered average to common with at least 60 copies recorded (according to Canadian Transportation Postmarks by Shaw}. My copy is from 1963, so this data is out of date.

Yes this is a small queen, apologies. Wine-red though it seems.
