Here are two perfins on Argentine issues of 1923. They are BE and BB. I started trying to follow up on these some time ago but somehow they fell through the cracks. Well, they showed up again this morning.

On a Spanish forum some time ago it was suggested to me that they represent Banco d'España and Banco de Bolivia. However I am sure that in the 20s and 30s these banks did not have branches in BsAs nor in the other major cities like Rosario and Córdoba.

Any thoughts or gossip appreciated in advance.

Hi Tony

In answering your question, yes the "BE" perfin was used by the Banco Espanol in the Buenos Aires and Sucursales area of Argentina from 1917 to 1975.

However, the "BB" perfin was used by Bunge y Born Ltd who apparently had offices also in the Buenos Aires and Sucursales area. The perfins were used there from 1913 to 1951

Hope this helps you out

Cheers

Darn, I never thought of checking Banco Español. Everywhere else, it seems, it has always been Banco d'España or Banco Real d'España. Thank you very much - very quick, I must add.

Glad I was able to help.

I have information on a lot of perfins but still a long way from being complete.

If it is full of holes, keep it. It might be a perfin.
