My Scott Specialized list no varieties of issue 220. (Older issue) From the picture you submitted it appears you have a cleaned copy, perhaps bleach and detergent. Bleach is a excellent cleaner of clothes but it tends to whiten stamps. Sometimes significantly. If you wait awhile many forum users at work or otherwise busy might respond. Remember," patience is a virtue" Regards m |

The others appear to be stained or toned to varying degrees. If reddish, be aware that the ink can often run to varying degrees when these stamps are soaked in water.
With the bright white one, there is the possibility that the stamp was dipped in household bleach or peroxide. Using either of the latter chemicals can/will make the paper weaker and even brittle. Comparison with the stamp with oval target cancel might be useful. That one, less the staining/foxing, seems to have more the look of a typical used stamp of this issue from what I can tell.

hi guys and thanks @ hy-brasil/GMC89 . what you'll say , makes sense but on the other hand im looking at the cancellation mark on the stamp and it looks very strong also the back , one can see the imbedded print of the flat plate print and there are no loose strands around the perforation , also I would think that if it was bleached there would be some kind of run off of the ink on the back. I have compared it to other stamps , it is very similar to a #248 . have a look. thank you |

Part of our problem is with scans in general and how they appear on monitors. If it compares that well with your 248, then it is just normal paper. Quote: I would think that if it was bleached there would be some kind of run off of the ink on the back. Not necessarily. It depends on the ink and maybe when in its life it was bleached. |

thank you @ hy-brasil .. but I'm still not satisfied as when I look at the other 220 I have the paper is much thicker and is dark , more on the brown side. I have not measured the paper thickness (no gauge#129335;#8205;#9794;#65039;) but it feels ..thicker. and I'm satisfied with your answer just still think there's something wrong with the paper. but thank you very much both of you. IL hang on to it |

Rafmal, recently at auction there was a collection of Scott 220s. I think it was like 1200 or more. As I recall the description was "for the specialist, showing many different varieties " etc. etc. etc. So of course I pulled out my Scott Specialized and did not see "many different varieties" . In my catelouge it states " printed by th the ABNC on stamp paper". It is a inexpensive issue, there being millions available. Some are thin some are not. It appears to be normal 220, perhaps cleaned. To be precise the only varieties listed are with "caps" I.e. 220A etc. etc. etc. and you stated they are not on your issues. Regards m
Edited for clarity on varieties |

Used stamps have, by definition, gone through various environmental conditions including being soaked in God knows what. Given the resolution of the images in this post, no one can really make a definitive conclusion but logic and common sense dictate that the whiter stamp is not a paper variety. Don |
