I found this Edward VII perfin "S U" with a strange cancel - any idea what it is? it appears to be FS over C.

Possibly either Fleet Street or Foreign Service BeeSee.
FS on Australian I believe to be Foreign Service.
Yours AFAIK belongs to rail markings, there is a dedicated catalogue
for these somewhere, but I have not run across it as yet.
I collect these and find them fascinating.

A random set from my collection:

Thanks for posting those Rodd222. Those stamps appear to be in the same category.

The upper left stamp is obviously British foreign service in Canada, with the "Eh" cancel.

Great info Rod.

Bee See, good day, eh?

(Not to be confused with the Australian G'day, which is a greeting.)

(for non-Canadians, 'eh' is pronounced aay and ends a lot of statements made by Canadians. It is like we are saying, 'do you agree with what I am saying?, or That's got to be the way it is, because there doesn't seem to be any other way it could be. I have to stop myself from sticking eh (aay) after those sentences in my mind.

For the top of the heap in saying 'eh?' please reference the comedians Doug and Bob MacKenzie eh?, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_and_Doug_McKenzie or see their parody of the Twelve Days of Christmas song.

Good Day and welcome to day twelve . . .

Not only Canada. It's also a favourite in New Zealand. (Any New Zealanders here?) On my first visit to Auckland, coming away from the airport, I found myself sitting alongside a very large Maori taxi driver who stated, in a heavy New Zealand accent 'First trup to New Zealand, eh'. Only fear of the consequences kept me from collapsing in giggles.

I always thought "eh" was a peculiarity with New Zealand speech,
so the Canadians have it as well.

The circular FS cancels.
we are still somewhat in the dark with these I feel, laccking
documented evidence of their history.

Nice reference, Puzzler. I was in New Zealand in 2007 and did not notice the Kiwis saying "eh". But then again, why would I notice if I am so used to it, eh?

Nice F.S. stamps Rod2222 - glad to see the yellow text back. I am looking to acquire that EH stamp. Put it up for auction or I will trade you this St. Lawrence Seaway invert.
