You are making huge strides! You are also very observant of the fine details.
Although not detailed enough in Scott, there are two "flavors" of 552, those from a sheet and those from a booklet. The paper was dampened before printing stamps in this era. Paper expands/contracts at different rates with-grain vs cross-grain when dampened/dried. The grain of the paper for sheets and booklets was printed 90 degrees to each other. The result is that 552 sheet stamps are slightly taller and skinnier than the shorter and wider booklet stamps. 19 stamps in each pane of 100 will have 1 or 2 straight edges, while all of the booklet stamps will have one or two. There is an extremely high probability the wider, straight edge stamp will be slightly shorter and thus from a booklet.
