I live in a very small town in Gilmer, Tx. I've got an abundance of stamps from the late 1800's to 1940's and several stamp covers, as well. I want to sell them, but don't know who to talk to or where to even start. I've organized them the best I knew how and to make them presentable for anyone with a trained eye could see them and give me their opinion.i don't think I'm sitting on a gold mine but with some research I've done on my own, I know I've got some worth more than a few pennies. I just need to find a really good home for them and don't know who to reach out too, because I have yet to find anyone local. Any advice, opinions, I will take as much as I can get from you all.
Hi, Best approach to get useful feedback would be to post some (6-12) representative images. Folks would then be better able to offer suggestions on how best to disposition. Don
I'm in the process of getting some good quality photos of all of my stamps and covers to have at all times. The photos I take with my phone, I just don't like the quality. I got these stamps out of a closet of an old house that my father in law bought to be remodeled. No one seemed to take an interest except me and was certainly not going to let them be thrown away even if they did or didn't have much value. I also felt like it would've been disrespectful to the original owners to throw away a hobby, and from what I can tell, they took pride in. There are several pages of identified and numbered stamps, and when I say pages, it's like manilla notebook paper. There were alot of loose stamps in several glass envelopes. I took them all and put them in lbums to make them presentable. They are from all over the world. U.S.of course, but Great Britain, Italy, Iraq, Canada, Nederlands, and many more. I even have a letter from Scott's publishing, that was inquiring and curious about a double postmarked Ecuador stamp. I posted that letter and stamp on here several yrs ago when I became a member to the stamp community. I guess I really need to get photos posted so it would make more sense as I'm writing this. I hope this makes some sense.
