I've always wondered who that angelic lady is atop the globe. One of the Muses? Or just an allegorical angel overlooking the communications aspect of the world? Or Bell?

Having it scanned up to higher resolution helps me to finally see clearly the wreath (laurel?) of some sort she is holding out above Alexander's head.

A train would have been nice going along next to the telephone wires as that's where a lot of wires were strung in the beginning.

That's the allegory of "Fame" Puzzler.
She is handing out the "laurel wreath of achievement"
One of the beautiful stamps of Canada.

Deep inside the Daily Gazette of 1876
it is revealed that there were discussions on Graham Bell's
phone alerter.

Should there just be a ringing tone or perhaps, a loud claxon horn?
we are fotunate that sensible heads prevailed.

Ah yes, those were the days... they just don't make them like that anymore.

Here is the 1974 Canadian issue for the 100th anniversary of the telephone.

Hi All

I think that the Alexander Graham Bell stamp is my 2nd most favourite stamp, only to be outdone by the 50 cents Bluenose of 1929.

I have partial sheets of Graham Bell that was given to me to use a postage for a society I belong to but didn't have the heart to use them so I bought postage of equal value for postal use. I mentioned this to the lady who donated them and she didn't mind one bit

Call me old fashioned, but being a child of the 60's
I find that apparel entirely appropriate, cool, and smart.
Bravo!
Have you seen what we are wearing today? T shirts and tracky pants
yuk.
Fantastic photo, thanks for sharing,

..and thanks for "the caring and preservation of philatelic materials" Bujutsu, that is a stamp worth rescue.

I think it would be my second fav of Canada, albeit the
set of diamond jubilee's that "Jubilee" posted was stunning,
Icharus is another beauty, Canada has a nice early catalogue.
