UPDATE for Parcelpostguy .

Just a update since May 9 . First the Disney stock is a bust ,still holding my position ,even added to it while it is down here .

On the subject of my belt promotion since March ,I am now a Brown Zebra {zebra means I got stripes on my belt }. Instructor has told me to step it up and clean up my fighting ability if I am going for Black . It is hard to push it at age 74 ,when everybody is 40 years younger that I fight with .Just spend 3 days not eating because someone put their knee on my stomach and started bouncing while holding me down , a killer . But good that I recovered to start fighting tomorrow on Monday .

Put a lot of though into this discussion page and have been over the last few months buying at auction a lot of better sets to round out my collection , using the above lot as a example of what I need to be adding to my collection .

Young instructors don't understand being old until they are and only if they remain instructors. Likewise the young guys don't have much concern for the old guys, again, not until they get old themselves and by then most will have stopped practice.

Good luck with your continuing progress in both (meaning stamps too), pace yourself and you will learn. Lastly remember the journey is what matters, not the goal.

This is from one who got the same comments all of the time when I was old and still competing, "don't have a heart attack," "don't die out there" and "you inspire me." That said, you do have 6 years on me, but I did start in 1965.

Schuyler-Rumsey does it again for the next auction .

They put up a huge collection and spend 500 words in the description and say very little ,then add in a $200,000 to $300,000 estimate for price . That is twice the price of the last one we discussed here .

Where do they get clowns to write catalog descriptions when the circus has left town months ago ?

Who would take time off work and book both a flight to San Fran . a hotel room then rent a car and walk in for a viewing ,then 1/2 hour later return home .

Please use words like -----catalog value , mounted , all different ,complete sets , % of MNH , albums put together by one person or are they having 50 different owners in the past , range of value ? Range of years included , range of countries ?

Wow. Looking through the PDF of that collection is amazing. I see an auction house or dealer buying it. There are a ton of four figure items with certs that can stand alone in an auction. Just look at France and the semi-postals/airmails.

it will break down nicely into a great group of mouth watering lots

That statement kind of makes me wonder why they didn't break it down at least somewhat, in order to maximize the consignor's return.

There are a number of items in the collection that I have recently seen crossing a number of major auction blocks. A medium size House could probably build an entire catalog from this one collection.

It's quite shocking, although we don't know what instructions the vendor might have given. This cries out to be broken into country or smaller lots to attract the maximum interest and value. Most of us focus on more limited areas, and most of us don't have huge sums to lay out on a worldwide collection of this kind to get what we do want.

Agree with GeoffHa ,if this is a part of a larger collection ,it is a strange grouping of countries to be sold as a first part during the first auction .

If you view the scans you can see a lot of what Worldwide collectors do , as the describer of the auction lot stated ,this person purchase other collections to build their collection ,then got tired of that placing stamps in his albums so they went to adding extra pages from the purchases they made into their albums . This resulted in a lot of duplicate to the following pages . Then the collector was unhappy with this so they started to put duplicate sets into 102 cards and putting prices and catalog numbers on the cards .

Sure we are all different and do stuff our own way but to others were doing the same thing as all the other collectors . Funny isn;t it .

I have not read the description, another possibility is the collector passed before getting a chance to place the materials in 102's into the main collection. The collector's passing could also explain the odd break-down of the collection- done without the collector's input.

I believe the cards are all written in the same hand writing .

plus how do you sell Hermes Heads in a scan without being able to read which one's they are ?

It would make a great come back for me wouldn't it?

I just wished they mentioned the number of albums, these describers need a basic outline of what every collection needs in it's decription.
