Quote: Scott 673 issued in 1945 to 1946. Are you sure? In my Scott catalog, 673 is figure A215: "Observatory, Pic du Midi". |

My full Scotts are not in the same place with me*, but I'd go with rod's i.d.
*This stamp's time frame isn't included in Scott Classic, which is almost always with me. |

What is the basic difference with "Scott Classic" ? Collin. Do I need that one? I am presuming closes at 1952?

You have Scott Classic, no?
Scott Classic includes lots of material that's not available in the main catalogue. That's why I often have nothing to add on material that is outside the scope of Classic.
The sort of info that would be typical for 1935 material isn't available for 1955 material through Scott. Meaning, Scott doesn't have the extra level of detail included in the Classic in the basic catalogue. |

I am pretty sure that Rod's post is correct in that it is SC# 532.
There is a 1947 Ceres (Sc # 576 - 580) but these do not contain a 1Fr.

Quote: You have Scott Classic, no? I have Scott Standard Catalogue 1976 Volume 1 and Scott SPECIALISED 2004 (Gift from Kirk) Scott std 2017 As much as I adore Scott, it grieves me sometimes with muddled year dates and complexity of the definitives. Currently, I cannot find the listing for the 2008 "Tiffany Lamp" which is irritating. |

Here is my understanding/belief:
Scott puts lots of love into the Classic Specialized for the years covered. That same level of detail does not make it into the regular Scott catalogue for the same years, and that same level of detail is not carried forward in later years.
Put another way, all of the cool stuff I can find in Classic Specialized for Bulgaria is not found in the Bulgaria listings in the main catalogue, whether pre-1940 or post-1940.
My 2 stotinki.
(I feel duty bound to add that Sergio Sismondo was a driving force behind the Classic, and I sure hope that his passing won't diminish the effort to keep the Classic relevant.) |

You probably didn't recognize the phrase "the bomb". And you're excused. The kids say "da bomb". |
