Thank you for your time, hopefully you can tell me more about some of the stamps I found many very interesting like the ones from trains, vatican, mongolia, yugoslavia, china.

There are some stamps from Spain depicting King Juan Carlos I. They are from the first two sets.
The ones that look like these are from the first set.

In the 1980s, these were re-issued on phosphorescent paper. Almost all values exist on ordinary and phosphorescent paper. If you have a uv-lamp, you can check which you have. The ones on phosphorescent paper light up yellow and show an afterglow in the dark.

This is a nice start to a collection. If you want to know if you hit the jackpot, the answer is no. But the joy inherent in the collection, that is priceless

Hello, Blackstamp2023 from Ecuador,

Welcome to the forum. What a wonderful gift your grandfather left you. You are off to a great
start in your new hobby.

On November 7 of last year I purchased on ebay a 40lbs. box of used stamps on and off paper for $29.99 plus shipping. The box held approximately 80,000 stamps which were similar to and including many of yours. If you run the numbers, that comes to 25 stamps for a penny....in my book, a good deal. I worked on them over the course of our winter.

I had a good collection as a youth and re-entered the hobby 8 years ago at age 65. Stamps, sports, boating/beaches, and travel keeps me breathing. My Dad was a stamp collector and he was healthy until age 100 (The FDA may not like me to infer a cause and effect relationship here, so I won't).

Good luck and much happiness with your new hobby. Use it as a source of enjoyment but avoid the "stamp collecting path to riches" (in my humble opinion).

Sincerely,

Greg

The stamps you posted remind me of the worldwide collection I had when I was younger. My grandmother left me a collection very much like yours and it was a launching point for me to begin collecting again. I hope you get many hours of enjoyment building your collection!

Thank you all for you answers, it has been fun! I'm not sure if ill start collecting them in the future but will surely hold on to them. Will in time see the Spain stamps in UV light to see which they are thanks. I found these on small plastic covers, was just wondering if they are important?

Blackstamp, no the two US stamps you posted are not valuable, if that is what you are asking?

The real value in these stamps are the fact they were appreciated by your grandfather. Please keep them in a safe place within your family. Make sure you add a note as to who accumulated them and when.
