Hi, I would be very grateful for help identifying the stamp in the photo…it is on a cover with a 1910 post mark

No, the color does not look right for a bluish paper #361. Bluish paper is actually more grayish than bluish. The 5c stamp being printed in blue casts an overall blue tint to the stamp, but that is not what bluish paper looks like. What you have is a 335.

Thank you. To be honest in daylight the paper looks grey not blue, I have a few more of the 5c and there is a noticeable difference between the garish ones and the white paper. I will try to take better pics, thank you so much anyway you have encouraged me to study some more.

Eyewanderer, this is not easy since your stamp is on cover, but one of the best ways to tell Bluish paper is to lay the stamp on orange paper. That is impossible here, but you could just cut out the shape of the stamp in a piece of orange paper and overlay it on the cover ?
I am Dutch, so I know that orange paper should not be a problem in Holland!

And welcome to the community!

Peter hi, Thank you! Your kind reply encourages me to research some more. I have several 5c Washington; some blue some carmine, all on covers qnd I could not help than notice that 3 of them are printed on different hued paper; q dull grey.
My background is in fine arts so I have a bit of an eye for nuances and hues whilst being a rookie when it comes to stamps…
It would be great to show them to someone more knowledgeable, do you have any idea where I can do that in Amsterdam?
Thank you again,
Kind regards ,
Nayla

Hi Nayla. I have been here in the States for a long time, and have no idea about stamp people in Amsterdam. But you can search this forum for "bluish paper" . You can search by using the button just under where you log in. Hope this helps

See here: https://goscf.com/t/86421

Edit: The watermark must be correct in addition to the correct perforations. Determining which watermark is difficult on cover as well.

you should look at 1 rypesetter's post in the us classics section. you stamp looks like a typical plate wash common on the five cent value. it is caused by the paper being over moist during printing and poor wiping.
