FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 11, 2010

According to reports today in the German-language stamp daily Stempelrichtigbriefmarkentag Paul the Octopus has selected the next stamp collecting area that will see an explosion in popularity and value - it is the mid-1970's Cancelled-to-Order (CTO) issues of Lower Elbonia.

Quoted in the article is Mr. Alistair Dunning, director of international acquisitions for London-based Stanley Gibbons, Ltd. According to Mr. Dunning, his firm was an early and ardent supporter of the stamp-issuing policies of Lower Elbonia, and Stanley Gibbons has quietly amassed enormous stocks of all of the relevant issues. Mr. Dunning went on to say, "Lower Elbonia has always been very selective in its appeal, which leads us to conclude that it is an area where connoisseurship is at the forefront." Mr. Dunning went on to explain that cancelled-to-order stamps offer collectors the best of two worlds, in that they present the appearance of genuine postal usage while satisfying the fetishistic desire for stamps with undisturbed gum among today's unhinged collectors. "Sales to India are projected to increase two-fold," says Mr. Dunning.

Background
Paul the Octopus gained fame through his ability to accurately predict the results of World Cup football matches, and his wisdom is now courted by solidly one-third of the world's Fortune 500 companies.

Stanley Gibbons, Ltd., is the world's leading arbiter of valuations of stamps for which it holds massive stocks.

For additional information, ring Mr. Dunning at 01 123-4567.

Results may have been good for the Octopus, but the dire quality could never have been forseen !

Quite an awful, dull and easily forgotten sporting occasion. [Except for South Africans]

The final was a disgrace from all involved.

Londonbus1......Loves Octopus

The humidity is pretty high here, so although I've been watching paint dry for nigh unto three hours, it's still tacky.

Mmmmmmm. Octopus. It rivals squid when cooked properly.

I had to step away during the last half of extra time. Save seeing the goal itself, I understand that my life is not incomplete having missed the rest of the game.
