I have two Ceylon, King George V stamps I can't find a listing for in the Scott catalogue. They are both watermark 4, making them part of the 1921-1933 issue of KGV stamps. The 3˘ stamp is a type I small C and from die 1a. The 6˘ is also type I small C and is from die 1b. Color of the 3˘ is slate and the 6˘ is violet.

The problem arises in that Scott catalogue has no listings for type I small C, 3˘ and 6˘ stamps with watermark 4. I use a Scott multi-gauge to measure my stamps and have double checked the dimensions of the small C to eliminate confirmation bias.

I would greatly appreciate any help in identifying these two stamps and their value if any. Thanks Roy B.

These look like the large "C" to me, which was how these late 3c and 6c were printed.

What makes you think there must be two types to list for that watermark?

To new readers and new collectors ---The best way to explain it to you is look at the gap in the sign for cents in the value "C" ,the opening gap and you will see the difference .

To those new readers: it is irrelevant. The types are only relevant for the earlier issue with a different watermark from the one OP refers to. As GeoffHa's post explains, for the watermark referred to by OP, there is only one variety and no gap to look at.

Yes it is relevant if your trying to understand when they start talking about the large "C" and small "C" .

As is evident from OP's question, that is exactly the mis-information that gave rise to the question.

I've no idea what, if anything, Scott says about the later 3c and 6c issues. If it's silent, it's not surprising that the OP is confused.
