You can chose to use either letter or A4 when you first start the page up.
ALBUM_PAGES_SIZE (215.9 279.4) #Set the page to US Letter (8.5 x 11) #ALBUM_PAGES_SIZE (210.0 297.0) #Use this for A4
You just set the first one up to (210.0 297.0) and it will do A4 |

To make your pages the 65 pound is ok. That's what I use 65-70 pound. It's thick enough for me. I'm trying now 110 lbs card stock, but if you make allot of pages it's more expensive and you will end up with more binder in the long run. You're choice. Remember as I was advice don't put to much in the feeder, just few pages at a time. If you don't have good results come back on the forum. Sure we can help you. And remember you have to punch holes so you don't have to go back like me to get the tool... Daniel |

Because I have a worldwide collection and have so many pages to do ( I'm up to 15 albums) I print my pages using stampalbums.com. They're easy quick and work very well for the type of albums I want to acheive. The paper I use is only 24lb but because of it's cotton cotent it feels much stiffer. It is by smart paper and called synergy bond with 25% cotton. It costs $24.95 for 400 at staples. Dianne |

I'm just starting to prepare the text for my collection and I want it to appear like a coffee table book. I want to adopt a minimilist page design and probably in a landscape format (I haven't done any layout for this yet). I'm preparing my collection for me, not for competetive display. The pages will be prepared on computer, I can't write legibly to save myself. Here's the very little I have done: I'd appreciate your feedback. |

The first thing that come to mind is "Know thyself" Now I reckon what you have produced is super, will make a lovely, interesting and very enjoyable album, what the important thing is, can you maintain the standard ? I know I could not, the standard would drop off, and the result a disappointment. That's why I chose simple qudrille with computer generated text. You may be different, and being your cynosure surrounds only postage dues, is achievable, and will make a grand display. Good Luck I particularly like stamps with a commentary marriage. |

Rod You don't have to buy a cd. It costs $30 a year to subcribe and you can print all the pages you need from the site. Dianne |

Rod,
I'm in no hurry. I've taken the best part of ten years to accumulate the material I currently hold (having sold a couple of tidy collections in the other 15 years I have been collecting the dues) and I expect it will take two or three years for me to work through what I have, identify what I need and put it all together in a format that I am happy with.
I have a loose plan to get custom made pages in A3 landscape format so I can display full sheets along eith the single pieces and covers without disrupting the flow of the story that I want my collection to tell.
And when I'm done I really want my collection to tell a story.

I wonder what your thoughts are, of placing your work in digital format?
What has raised my interest, is firstly the Late Mette Heindorff and her beautiful pages, then , seeing that *.pdf of "Dummy Stamps" by Glenn Morgan recently posted.
The standard there is absolutely brilliant, the work is ultimately portable, cannot be broken down, and 'scuse the pun, virtually lasts forever.
It appears your work would be ideal for *.pdf format. Comments?

Ummmm, wow... I think my brain may explode! When I first heard of "making your own album pages," I was picturing a page much like a commercial album! I REALLY like the pages with the extra historical information. I would really love to do something like that but I don't yet know where I'm going with my collection. I'm not a fan of the idea of having a blank page with tons of stamps and no descriptions. Even though each stamp doesn't need a whole page to itself, the history is the best part! The hard part about being a newbie is that, because I don't have much information about my stamps or their history yet, I wouldn't even know where to start with a layout... I hate to put in tons of work right now just to have to redo it! What to do, what to do?! Should I keep them in the Minkus album format that they're currently in? Should I go with Vario pages and minimal info and the extra protection? Somebody tell me what to do, ahhhhhhhh! |
