The stamp is about HGV 3·0 high speed train design concepts; the high-speed trains should be able to reach speeds of 'around' 200 km/h on upgraded lines, at least 250 km/h on new high-speed lines and 'in appropriate cases' a speed of over 300 km/h. They hope to be up and running by 2030.

The stamp depicts an ICE (InterCity-Express) high-speed train of the German national railway DB (Deutsche Bahn). The word "Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr" translates into high-speed traffic. It does not necessarily relate to rail traffic, although it obviously does in this case. The 's' at the end is for the male Genitive declension,

I have been travelling on these trains for some decades. This 1991 stamp is for the introduction ("Start") of the ICE trains in 1991. The current trains can reach speeds of over 400 kmh but operate at much lower speeds.

HGV 3.0, also known as ICE 5, trains are being developed to replace the third-generation ICE trains in the 2030s. This new generation of trains was commissioned in 2023.

My favorite longest word from middle school was Antidisestablishmentarianism. If that word ever appeared on a postage stamp it would beat Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr by one letter. :-)

A world record was recently set for the most words on a single postage stamp. Belgium issued a stamp in June 2024 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the UPU. The stamp includes 2,024 words in microprint.

The "words" are the names of the UPU member nations, and since there aren't 2,024 of them, the names repeat a few times. Still, quite a feat for the engraver.

Edit: I originally counted the letters of "Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr" from NSK's post. With the added 's' at the end of "Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehrs" from the OP, this word is tied with the number of letters in "Antidisestablishmentarianism".
