Interesting cover from 1906 New Mexico territory before becoming a state. A nice picture on back showing a busy steam boat landing. I need help translating the German script on back. Also what is the vehicle in the front with red rims? A tractor? A cannon?

Main body to the left reads: 'Best wishes for your birthday and a Happy Easter.'

I can't decipher the name or what's at the right, although 'Vater' means Father.

Edited to add, in margin bottom right: 'letter follows.'

I believe the answer to your question is a steam tractor with a flywheel. Although Fred Dibnah (among many others) could probably answer the exact model, I certainly can't. If you don't know who Fred is, strongly suggest you look him up. Absolutely one of the most fascinating people I never knew. He had a series on BBC where he went around the UK helping to save steam powered technology, when he wasn't dropping smokestacks for a living.

I enjoyed going to steam rallies when I lived in England. The noise and smell and rumble of those huge things moving around were almost as fun as watching them power stations threshing clover seed or cutting lumber or setting up a machine shop with huge leather belts transferring power to them all. A bygone era today's kids probably know nothing about.

Your postcard is also pretty neat. I would imagine there was not a large number of any kind of mail going from Tucumcari to Germany. Even today there is not a great deal there (Tucumcari, not Germany...). I only stop there to get gas and use the rest room when I am jetting down I-40 for whatever reason.

Edit: Threshing vs thrashing

Thanks Staterevs! Yes I think this cover is very interesting and you added even more character to it! It is pretty amazing that the volume of business at this landing could show 3 steam boats actively being used at the same time. I wish I could figure out what town the picture depicts.

If you are an APS member, they have a translation service. If the correspondence isn't lengthy, there may be no charge for it. Don't know what determines when a fee applies. I've used it and the response was pretty quick, but it wasn't a long translation that was needed.
