Fake. You can see a couple of leftover perfs at the top right.

I agree with Rev and mention that single 315s must measure at least 21.5mm x 25 to get a cert.

The guideline at the left is not a guarantee that it is fake, but it is a red flag. The stamps at the edges of the sheet often have wider margins that can create a more plausible looking 315 by trimming the perforations off a 304. But the top and bottom margins are still too short and would not pass the minimum measurements that rogdcam posted.

Here is a corner margin copy that looks like it might be big enough to be genuine yet PF (565078) says "It is not Scott 315, rather, it is a Scott 304, with perforations trimmed away at left & bottom."

If you look at the left margin on this last stamp, it is very uneven. Ordinarily, no user trims a genuine imperf out of a multiple that way. They would just cut it fairly straight, with a scissor or a razor. But people looking to trim perfs off of a stamp will often cut them in this fashion, trying to remove the perfs while leaving as much paper as possible.

Thanks for your answers, yes, just where I wanted to write it. Your last post came. I thought this line on the left would rather indicate that it is actually real, but yes, as you all say, probably fake. I would have to have it checked.

To be clear yours is a real stamp, not fake, it just had been damaged and altered by trimming.

Hello - I also have a couple "real or fake" stamps that I have wondered about. Is it recommended to add to this thread, or create a separate? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Brian

Brian:

It would be less confusing if you started a new thread for each of the stamps you would like examined. It keeps the discussion easier to follow,.
