Please Niklass can you show us a photo of the stamps. I am a newbie here but I still would love to see them. |

Both stamps are listed in the Scott Specialized Catalogue under proprietary die match stamps (revenue).
Left stamp is Scott # RO173, produced for the company Swift & Courtney. The cheaper varieties are valued at $3.50.
The right stamp is Scott #RO23, produced for A. Beecher & Son. The cheapest variety is valued at $17. |

Nicklass, I admire your enthusiasm. Over the past two weeks you have made a number of posts about various U.S. stamps. I agree with the direction revenuecollector starts toward. I note you are in Gemany, but I would highly recommend you acquire a copy of the Scott U.S. Specialized catalog. A used copy 2-8 years old will be sufficient for the vast majority of your needs at a reasonable cost. |

Well, I had to clear up a few things about some stamps from the US, which is why there were several posts at the beginning. But I thought that's what this forum is for? I'm planning to order the Scott catalog—I was going to do that either way. Honestly, "enthusiastic" would be something completely different; then I'd be starting ten topics a day. I only manage to reply to or create a few posts every couple of days.
But you're absolutely right about the Scott catalogue, this post would no longer have been necessary! However, the others were about identifying a fake or finding out a very special version.

You are correct, I have actually posted several times that Scott's U.S. Specialized Catalog is only "semi-specialized" as there is a huge amount of additional information in the various monographs, journals, specialty societies, etc., but it the best one-volume place to start. |

I'll try to combine multiple questions into a single post if I have several again. I think that would be better for the forum.
Yes, I've been thinking about that too. Even the Michel catalog in Germany doesn't provide enough information to clearly identify specific areas of stamps. Unfortunately, there's far too little detail, like which specialized publications exist for certain areas, for example, 1850 to 1870, or for stamps from 1908 onward, which are particularly difficult to identify. Could you recommend something? I've been curious about this for a long time but haven't had the chance to dive deeper into it yet.
