Was just on SAN, and saw Paradise Valley has their newest sale up ("Paradise Live" #S135 US & Worldwide Singles & Collections - April 12, 2025).

Headed straight to the revenue section and whatthewhat?

Despite having PF Cert 584010, there seems to be zero chance those perfs are legit in anyway?

R13a pair is $2,000 25SCV. R13b pair is $250 25SCV.

Maybe they were fixing perfs rather than adding them to an imperf?

Or maybe that did have a pretty scarce pair and ruined it thinking it would be worth more?

I saw that pair and it looked strange to me as well.
I will be interested to hear what people say. I need to learn how to recognize these.

They appear bad to me. Even the date which I read as 1869 screams out to me as a warning.

Rumsey sale #101 (Westpex) 2022, Lot 1995, Cat/est $700 sold hammer $190. Manuscript date described as 1863, NOT 1869 as assumed by posters above.

I suggest you direct your questions to the PF regarding the perforations.

That may be an artifact of the scanner contrast and/or image compression software. The perfs look much better on the actual cert from the PF database.

If people look this up in the catalog, they will see that no one except a psycho would add perfs to an imperf pair. They are worth a whole lot more.

It's quite a stretch to read the year as "1863".

Not such a stretch after 50+ years of looking at them.

What are you trying to say?

The date is VERY OBVIOUSLY

July 9
1869

(I have no idea about the perfs, not my area of expertise).

The cancel date is 1863.

The wonky perfs in the original image are likely the result of an overaggressive background mask with the threshold set so high that it also deleted parts of the stamp.

To my knowledge, there are no known multiples of R13a.

Those are 3's, not 9's. The taxpayers did not care about collectors.

I am genuinely glad that is what this actually appears to be!!!

Kudos to those who thought to go look at the PF website as well as Parcelpostguy for having historical info on previous sales.

Is it?

May I politely ask from which stamp, top or bottom, are you reading July 9?

Once that is answered, I must ask what is the date on the other stamp?

Just for clarification:

7-8-1863
7-9-1863
7-8-1869
7-9-1869

Are all weekdays.

Edited to add:

Look at the first two letters in the top text line...U versus A; Three looking B and B with poor looking squiggle which could be a three without considering the vertical stroke.

You are hard pressed seeing the second set of letters (top) as a clear SS unlike the lower stamp's cleared looking SS.

My point being the person with pen was not concerned in passing a third grade penmanship quiz here.
