I found this in a collection that had many Provincial stamps, so I believe it is real. I know that the stamp was not issued, so is this a proof? If so, what is the value, and yes, it is not in the best of shape. I can't find any mention in Scott, and don't have access to a Canadian specialized catalog.

Thanks

No value at all . Most collectors would just trash it .

It is Unitrade 5Piv with a catalog value of $250. As Floortrader said, the poor condition pretty much erases any value since very fine copies of this are available for sale at around $150.

It is part of the historical Connell stamps. See: https://www.rpsc.org/cp/charles_connell.html

So there's only 75 examples known, and they have a street value of $150?

The 75 number is not for proofs and specimens.

Right, thanks. As the article states there were 5,000 sheets shipped for postal use, I guess there must have been a few thousand 'specimen' sheets printed as well.

I would point out it may be in poor condition, but it is in better condition than the other copy you don't yet have...

Better to have that than no copy at all?

Do have to be careful about having too many space fillers as those who follow after you may assume all your stamps are faulty, and that may not be the case.

I looked at an online auction with a revenue collection last week on SAN. Almost every single stamp was punch canx, or obvious major thins visible from the front, or trimmed perfs, etc. Page after page. Some folks may be OK with that and good on them, but I will admit I had to force myself to look at every page, just in case...

Yes, and I would even be happy to own it. There's not millions and millions of those printed, and it's something really interesting. It's maybe faulty, but don't forget its history.

Thanks for all the answers and information. I am truly surprised I stumbled across this in a collection I purchased. The stamp resided for at least the past 20+ years on the Oregon coast depending on when the collector acquired it.

Not many have any kind of copy of this.

I would soak it to clean it, then trim it a bit (bottom/left side).

It won't look bad and would also have some value.

I agree with the soak, but certainly not the trim.
