I'm brand new to this and a couple of coin & note forums as I'm trying to learn about my husband's collections of stamps, coins, notes, and model cars. I want to know what I'm selling for 2 reasons. I love learning for the sake of it, especially with anything involving history. I want to be able to set a fair price for both myself and a buyer. Caveat emptor is as important as caveat venditor!
If I sometimes don't respond promptly, please understand I'm stretched thin right now between too many obligations and necessities.
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer inside or out. Here, inside is the only way until you can't fry an egg on the street in 5 minutes
If there's a way to change my username, please let me know. I really don't like it. I didn't know it became carved in stone

Alas: https://www.stampcommunity.org/faq.asp#editprofile provides this information:

Actually I am amazed the user name was not already taken by some philatelic snob, which it seems you are not. That said, it is a cool spot on philatelic profile name and you also keep some future user from having it. Of course you could have selected "Ave-Fusedsmallfaults4me" now that would not be a good forum name.

Edited to add missing "r" on a word.

I believe a fair price for any of the items you intend to sell would be a percentage of what your husband paid for them. So if he kept records, or informed you of where or whom he purchased them from, you have a good starting point. Good luck on your endeavor.

Hi and welcome! I too have a collection or 2 that fell to me. I my case, as soon as I checked in a catalog I saw all of the stamps I had as a kid or inherited are worth $5 or less, even the ones from the 1920s (most are worth nothing except the 25 or 30 cents someone would charge for handling them). All the more reason to focus on the history and culture of stamps. It really takes the pressure off lol!
