I have a full set of Graf Zeppelins, but I am concerned about the C14. It has good color, unused, but no gum and I am not sure what condition when I try to sell it. Could it have been soaked off an old envelope? If so, does that change the value? Thanks for any assistance.

My opinion is that it is toned from poor storage and appears to have a closed tear at the second "P" of Zeppelin. |

thank you for the responses so far...there is no tear but yes the small toning is there, that's how it was when I purchased it I think, because I have really good storage. WM |

I've always thought that removing the gum from an unused stamp (deliberately or by soaking off a cover) reduced its value to half that of an unused previously hinged version of that same stamp. |

Quote: there is no tear So then what caused the white line on the stamp? Surface scrape or lint on photograph or ??? If on the stamp, it will affect the price downward. When it occurred, does not matter, but it is toned. Yes, the ball park guide when no gum is not specifically listed for unused, 50% of the full gum hinged value.for an unused stamp is the approximation. Less when past the unhinged only pricing date. |

Is that foxing to the lower left of the back? Would go with the toning if previously kept in humid conditions. |

no tear, I will check the stamp itself, but didn't see the white line when I looked under the scope. Thanks for all the info.. |

When I used high magnification of the image, it looked to me like the white line was not part of the stamp, but sitting on top of it because it looked three dimensional. |

Looks like lint or stray fragment of paper resting on the stamp. The apparent continuation of the brown frame lines "on top" of the paper fragment may be an optical illusion artifact of image compression. |

yes, I just checked the stamp with a 30x lighted magnifier and there is no white spot, thanks for pointing it out, I guess it was a piece of stray lint or something...no tear.. |
