Here is a souvenir cover of the February 28, 1955 French occupation of the Saarland stamp (Michel #357) shown on page 11 of this thread. The stamp publicizes the World Championship in Cross Country Cycling held in Saarbruecken. The special cancellation on this cover reads 06.3.55, perhaps meaning that it was applied on the day of the race...or that it is a forgery  |

This 2002 stamp honors Luxembourgian racing cyclist Francois Faber (1887-1915). From Wikipedia, "He was born in France. He was the first foreigner to win the Tour de France in 1909, and his record of winning 5 consecutive stages still stands. He died in World War I while fighting for France."  |

On July 10, 1996 New Zealand issued a set of five, round stamps to commemorate the country's participation in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The 80c stamp (SG #2009) features cycling.  |
