Quote: I notice, we have yet to see electric bikes ? Becoming very popular in our country towns. Around here as well, especially food deliverers' favourite. I was wondering this one on the right could be electric - as the chain area is hidden - but not possible, if this was a snap from 1928! I haven't seen postman/postwoman's electrical bicycle yet in the UK. Have you seen anywhere in the world? Ecuador 2011 |

Quote: Australian e-trikes Massive thing! I guessed that the roof is the solar panel - but not, it is a sun protection, as well as a shield to protect postman/woman from magpie!? In a rural area, Honda C110x must have run loooong distance in years with endurance. Except some old bikes with electric devices from early era, e-bikes are too bulky or less elegant when illustrated on stamps, aren't they? Let's celebrate here, postwoman on a conventional bicycle. Among the postman on bicycle stamps, this is my all the time favourite - featuring a poster of the film 'Jour de fęte' (1949) by Jacques Tati (1907-1982). I am surprised that it has not shown in this thread! France 6 March 1993 / Stamp Day / design: R. Peron And I have some dupes, so they are listed on ebay. If you type "bicycle" on the top search bar on below link, you will find it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/tomonaka...kaazu&_oac=1 |

Slight - very minimum details say this postman is on a bicycle. Tiny stamp is printed with only 2 colours, efficiently used. Japan 1 July 1973 / Postal Code Campaign: is says "5th Anniversary of Postal Code" on the postman's back |

I was wondering what is the object on his bicycle, behind the head torch. It must be a horn, to announce the recipient (and neighbours) for the arrival of letters. Nigeria 1983 / Postman Delivery |

It also has a chain guard, to prevent damage to the pouch.
Seen on early bicycles to prevent ladies dresses getting caught in the chain.
