@laswabbie
Scott 85 is also a really nice stamp. I really like the look of the muddy water color change. |

Love that Bob!
(Ouch, that was the name of an old TV show. Robert (Bob) Cummings played a professional model photographer always trying to date his models, Ann B. Davis played Schultzie, his dark room assistant that did all the film processing, and Dwayne Hickman, who later play Dobie Gilles played his nephew. I believe Rosemary De Camp played Bob's sister and Hickman's mother. But what was the name of Hickman's character on this mid-50's show?) |

My vote for the best looking, designed and most significant Canadian stamp is the 20 cent Special Delivery stamp issued on 29 June 1927 as part of the set to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee [60th anniversary] of Canada's confederation. The design depicts different methods of transporting the mail. I use it on my letterhead |

I think Canada Post would be upset if we didn't include this one from the millennium: (#1814 1999) As blurbed, it is the dove of peace printed in the classic steel-engraved style of many earlier Canadian stamps. The intricate detail and classic beauty of this unique memento have been achieved with artistry and craftsmanship seldom seen today. |

According to legend, when the design for the Imperial Penny Postage issue of 1898 was shown to Queen Victoria for her approval, the comment was made that the stamp would be issued on the Prince's birthday, i.e. the Prince of Wales with whom the Queen was having difficulties. Her icy reply was "And what prince would that be?" Quick thinking resulted in a reply "Why, the Prince of Peace, of course." Thus, the addition of XMAS 1898 to the design. Jerry |

I have to stick my nickel in (no more 2c). My first choice is the Bluenose followed closely by the $8 Grizzly Bear of 1997. |

Canada just like the U.S. issued beautiful stamps when they used plates and the stamps were engraved. But when they both went to computer generated instead of engraved. The stamps lost their beauty. IMO |
