I got this somewhere and assumed it was a 720 imperforate, but don't see any reference to any such stamp ever having been produced. Is this genuine (produced as an imperforate or cut from proof sheet etc.) or someone messing around at some point?
Longer answer: The stamp is genuine, but almost certainly trimmed from a booklet. The perforating and trimming operations are done in two steps. Consider what you could do with the two lower stamps here: Or this one:
Thank you for the quick replies. Cut from a booklet is what I suspected. Not sure who did it or why, but given that 720 is common and I already have a booklet specimen I will probably chuck it.
Why would someone trim to be imperforate is a mystery, in fact why would anyone do it if it doesnt make the value of the stamp increase. The only reason I could imagine is that those of us interested in stamps is to mess with our minds.
