Just posting this for the revenue guys. Nice stamp with a perf shift. What can I say, I am an EFO guy but not with revenues generally. Not my stamp.

This would not be considered an EFO. Just a badly centered stamp.

Depends how deep one is into EFOs.

Clearly I disagree. It is part of the continuum of misperforation. Now I acknowledge being and EFO does not make a stamp more valuable or more interesting. In fact as with this stamp, the value decreases.

And of course it was and remains a obvious perf shift.

There was so much trouble with the perforating machines used by Butler & Carpenter and later Joseph Carpenter, that to be anything called an EFO has to be significantly larger than this. Second Issue perfs were generally somewhat better than First Issue perfs, but stamps such as this are not especially uncommon or unusual. Obviously you can collect however you like, but few revenue collectors would think of this as anything but badly centered.

And stamps such as this example shows the range of perforation misplacement that you describe due to poor application.

Yes, but it is a common type, easily found. Therefore not worthy of any special status. If the shift was twice the size, then it would enter into real EFO territory.

IMO it *is* an EFO... but is it worth any premium as such? IMO no. As Bart says, if the images were split 40-60 or more, then it would likely garner a premium, but as it is the market value is definitely a decrease rather than an increase... but it still is an EFO.
