Hi all,
I temporarily moved off of the Chicago precancels and now I am working through an envelope of California. I came across a few San Francisco ones. Just trying to put them in the proper ID.

From what I could tell these are local precancels ( Id's for these start with an L number) correct?

Next according to what was printed in the PSS fifth edition catalog I have. I tried to match it up to what was printed in the catalog came up with 3 possibilities.

The L-3 E. The L- 6 HS. and the L - 10 IHS.

The lines on the stamp were a little too far apart to match the L - 3 E
The lines on the stamp were too narrow to be the L - 6 HS
The lines on the stamp matched the same distance for the L - 10 HS but the stamp did not have a dated cancel as the one shown in the catalog.

So how would I check to the catalog as to what these are?

All are L-3, the L-6 is about the same size but handstamped so lighter, 'crookeder' than L-3. L-10 is rare and must have the HB additional control. Once you find the L-6 you will recognize them. Good luck finding the L-10 !

Ok. So with this example do not have to worry about line distance between the lines necessarily just the overall composition of the stamp. I have found a few more of these and didn't think they were the expensive ones.

Thanks for the help.
