Mount it in your album. It's enough off center to be interesting. I see the vertical perfs are more off center as you move left to right and there are some weird horizontal perfs occurring at the same spacing as the stamp width. A Canada specialist may be able to tell you more on how this happened.

Considered an error, freak or oddity. Leave it together as a nice used and cancelled pair, or it will erode its value. An error contains a major mistake in the production of the stamp. This is a perforation shift, done during production but not listed in unitrade or Trajan catalogue. The degree of shift and demand by collectors will determine its ultimate value.

Edit: added a .

Put it in a mount and proudly display it in your album. You may not get another for what you got it for. Or if your not interested in it, and just want to obtain other stamps for the collection, sell it to someone with a reasonable offer that your happy with. I know I would mount it next to my imperforated ones.

I don't think there is any reliable catalog of values for such an item. The best way, in my opinion, is to offer it for sale on ebay starting at 99 cents and see where it goes from there. The highest bidder would set the value they are willing to pay for it.

The "cause" of this perforation freak is most easily seen in the 4 green circles. Note the overlapped perforation holes. It is a case where a comb perforator in an "H" pattern was used and the paper failed to advance fully (by about half a perforation) between consecutive strokes of the perforator. This resulted in the gradual shift in position of the vertical perforations from stamp to stamp across the pane.

A similar Canadian "perforation gap" caused by irregular paper advancement was discussed here:

John becker, thanks for pointing that out. I was not paying attention to those perforations. Great explanation.

Take it for what it's worth, but as someone who regularly sells similar items on ebay, you could get anywhere from $10 - $30.

If selling via auction, a minimum of $10 would be a better starting point, as sometimes 99c starting bids only result in 99c.

It always helps to provide as much information as possible when posting about specific stamps. It helps others help you more efficiently and effectively and perhaps more importantly it is very useful when the search function is used in the future. What I am saying is that you should always provide at least a catalog number if you have one. For searches it isn't much to just have "Canada", "stamp", "weird" and/or "perforations". Maybe someone else has posted about this in the past or someone will search for the same or similar thing in the future. Without more specifics your topic is for all intents and purposes lost after it drops off the active topics.

Useful info for this would be "1988", "Unitrade 1165" (Scott is the same number), "shifted perforations" etc.
