Interesting...

My favorite "doubling" error is on the "Family Planning" US stamp from the mid-late '70s, where it looks like the family has 6 kids or so...

Somebody posted a link to an article on this recently. Will try to find it when I get home...

Add pictures.... you can see color misalignment (i think it is...).

Do you know if it is common on a stamp?

Color misregistration. When minor, it is usually considered a poor quality stamp. Usually when the misregistration is a few millimeters, then it is of interest to EFO collectors and starts commanding a minor premium. But it's a pretty fuzzy line between poor registration and a premium EFO. Sometimes the misregistration doesn't have to be a few millimeters (e.g., two-tailed cat, four-eyes) -- it's just a matter of how you market the stamp to catch someones attention/interest.
