Looky-Looky at what I got today!!

I think that this is the most beautiful cover I have ever seen. I get a chill every time I look at it. Not to mention that I only paid $35 for it .

Very nice!

I like how the cancel is neat and legible. Also the cover appears in good condition without any major toning.

I think your C18, off the cover, even with VG centering, could sell for $30-35 - so on cover for $35, I think, is fantastic. I might have bid it up to $40, at least!

Are there any interesting backstamps?

Nice cover Lucky

I have an identical one for my US airmail collection and I can tell you that I was really pleased to add it to my US airmail album.

Sweet!

There is nothing so nice as a cover flown on a Zeppelin!

I have the baby Zep on a flown cover but it's a bit different.

Mine was dispatched from Akron, OH and was flown "round trip: Akron to Akron"
It then went on to the addressee in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Presumably by conventional post. It has a nice received back stamp from both Akron and Sydney and a lovely violet cache.

The cover is lurking somewhere so I'll try to find it for a scan if anyone is interested in an up close and personal view.

Here's my question for the group:
Is there a definitive source for information about flown Zep. covers for U.S. stamps? There are so many varieties and prices all over the place. Would like to learn about what is scarce and what is not, where flights occurred, etc..

I've found this to be a good source for info. on all airship covers (not just Zeppelin) but no values. However, there is loads of information contained on this site about the Zeppelins and the details surrounding all aspects of airship travel from their construction to their demise:

I would like to extend a belated Welcome to Grayslate and yes, please post some scans of your cover.

PandaBear,
Here's a scan of the cancel on the back of cover.

An interesting (historical) explanation on how these stamps and covers came to be and the connection with the Century of Progress Exhibition in Chicago:
