While the plastic is archival safe, it is not a practice I would recoomend. I would hate for the stamp to slip while stampling and get a big old staple hole.
Looks OK for display and handling but the staples would corrode in the salt air here near the Atlantic coast. Our cars last 3-4 years before panels need replacing sometimes.
There's an antique maill just west of Bennington, Vermont where there's one dealer with a lot of stamps encased this way in coin holders. They're also exposed to sunlight so we'll see how long they last.
I've seen stamps encased in those coin cards, too. An easy way for a dealer to display them, I suppose. To it's benefit, it could be a good way to store them, as there are numerous stock books and boxes made especially for those things, but I, too, would mirror the previous responses that (1) staples would be a problem for me; and (2) the care needed to remove the specimen from the coin card would be painstakingly slow or else a more careless collector could unwittingly damage the stamp in the process; and (3) light would be a problem in potentially fading the stamp if left out in the open (of course in a coin box or slide box storage system, that would become less of an issue.)
To it's advantage, the coin cards do make it possible to note Scott numbers or perf. or color varieties or any other pertinent info. on the stamp/coin holder itself rather than relying on post-it notes or slips of paper that might otherwise separate from the stamp.
I still like a Hagner or Vario loose leaf album page any day to this sort of storage. It will also take up considerably less room, given the thickness those coin cards need for storage.
