In Germany, they have toy sets for kids called Kinderpost. I've never seen one with this particular design, but the size and quality are similar. |

I thought that at first, but the problem is that all of the toy posts I have ever seen say "Toy Post", "Toy Town", "Tiny Town", "Kinderpost", etc. They all say something along those lines. My specimen says 1. And again as earlier, I've never seen anything printed on Granite Paper. And everything I've ever seen has perforations on all four sides. this does not. |

This little bird is probably from the edge of a sheet, hence the straight edge. It's cute! |

I was thinking it was from a sheet, hence my earlier thoughts that it possibly was some kind of ration stamp. I still don't think its a toy. The simplest toy stamp designs that I've seen are way more intricate than this. It has to be something else, in my opinion. |

Is it a possible essay? A private die? Maybe an old ration stamp? They vaguely remind me of the old S&H green stamps (ha-ha remember those ) but older looking. It looks very German or Polish perhaps? Just a guess. |

So are there any solid ideas. Any consensus on what you all think it might be. |

Very intriguing item ajbbarbados - doesn't appear to be any real consensus as to what it is - I am clueless about it but when I first saw it I thought Egypt only because the image reminded me a bit of hieroglyphics - will be very interesting to see where the discussions end up |

Guessing is not good for philately, speaking from experience :)
Best to leave in folder called "unidentified" (there are thousands of them in philately) and occaisionally bump the thread (every 6 months?)

I thought those Manama stamps looked familier. They are the same as the Ajman stamps of the same time period. I have some that I will try to get pics of later and post on here. |

After looking at it carefully, I have come to the conclusion that the bird is a falcon, or possibly a hawk. Looks a little similar to heiroglyphics, but I don't think it has anything to do with Egypt. |
