If you create a link, don't put punctuation at the end of the link; e.g. an end-of-sentence period after .com. screws up the link generator. Add an extra space at the end of the link - OR just omit the punctuation.

WOW Kirk, You must have eagle eyes. I didn't see those dots. And yes it does work without the dots at the end.
Thanks Kirk |

If you're in the Midwest, hand-carry it to the APS in mid-Pennsylvania. If you're in the Northeast, hand-carry it to the Philatelic Foundation in NYC. Forget about grading, a PSE certificate isn't worth a ----, especially if you are already having the stamp expertized. See: http://gradingmatters.com/services.htmlI want to see a picture of the invert laying on the front page of today's newspaper. |

I didn't mean to cause such a stir. I will be at the house of the owner this week, I'm trying to help them out as they are not computer savvy. I totally understand the doubt factor. From the little I know about stamps and the rarity of this one, I would want to have it re-authenticated, etc. before I do anything else. Again, it was purchased by the current owner in 69/70. I will ask if I can photograph it to post and add any supporting documentation. And no, I wouldn't sell it on ebay and I have researched the Internet and that is why I joined and posted here as I'm trying to do what is best and right by the owner so they can make sure someone who appreciates has the opportunity to get it, but not get shanked by someone either. If auction is the way to go, then that is what we will do I will let this group know after my visit. Thank you for your time and have a great week! |

Quote: If you didn't get any type of paper work as in a certificate when you purchased it I would be wary. Doesn't really mean much, anyone that would forge a stamp wouldn't hesitate for one millisecond to forge a COA. |

From the little I know about stamps and the rarity of this one, I would want to have it re-authenticated, It's easy to be skeptical since nearly all copies are accounted for. No one likes to be trolled. This is THE holy grail of postage stamps. There are other stamps that are more rare or valuable, but this is by far the most coveted stamp. For the sake of argument, I will assume your stamp is authentic. The cost of authentication will run into the thousands of dollars. A high-end auction house might be willing to front the cost if they believe it authentic. Contact R.A. Seigel auctions or Harmer-Schau auctions and make sure you have lots of photos along with any other information you can acquire including the provenance. If this is the real deal, I wish you good luck. If you're trolling, go away and don't come back. Cheers Brian |

The location and owner of a great majority of the inverted Jennys are well-known. I believe that there are less than 10 that are either known destroyed/lost or still missing.
Please post a pic of the front AND back of your stamp. Why the back? Because the position number of the stamp was penciled onto the back before the sheet was broken up. So unless someone erased it or regummed it, it should still be there.
I do have the full-sized poster of the reconstructed sheet, given to me by the dealer who published it. But you should be able to check online to ID the stamp position as well.
But please post good resolution picture here first. There are quite a few forgeries out there, and you can get a quick non-expert opinion if it is a fake and save yourself some expertization fees. |

WOW, is it just me or do you think anyone who would have such a stamp would not know how to liquidate it if they needed too? |

People who bought the inverted Jenny over the years were not necessarily philatelists if you know what I mean. Investment, prestige, and usually a fair amount of means. So maybe not a troll. |

Years ago on Stampoffers which was purchased by Wensy,we had a guy come on who had some PONY EXPRESS covers left to him by a relative who was a preacher in the old west. People asked to see the covers and the guy said he was going down to the safe to get them..he must have locked himself in ..we never heard from him again ! |
