Also remember that from the 1940's - 1980's Forgeries were plentiful. I inherited my Grandmothers collection and it contained many forgeries that I'm sure someone swindled her out of good money for. The forgeries included a complete set of Western Australia swans, British Guiana Ships, Sicilian Stamps, Confederate Forgeries, South American Forgeries (The Bolivian very expensive one)Heligoland, and plenty others.

I had a similar situation. However, it turned out to be just a partial invert.

I've seen fast plane, slow plane, and so on. Would this one be considered a "stunt plane"?

Susan - since you are in the Midwest, if you can wait until August, the biggest stamp show of the year in the US will be in Milwaukee. One of the auctioneers for the show is Harmer-Schau and you can contact Chris H. or Kurt S. at 707-546-6729 to discuss it. As others have stated, they will want some documentation that it is real.

Any further updates on this thread? I'd still love to see a scan of the stamp in question, or at least the reference number on the back. It seemed too good to be true from the first posting, but I'm still open to seeing a successful sale ...

Whether the stamp was real or not, the man seemed genuine. If he's waiting for authentication, it could take awhile. Still, I'm not holding my breath ...

Hi all, have not forgotten your help. Have not been able to connect to get to the safe deposit box. I have college kids that were home on break, blah-blah. I could've taken a picture of a picture, but I know that would not be at all helpful. I will wait until we can ge to the box together and doing research on other pieces - we're not in any particular hurry at this point. We are trying to do an estate auction this summer and are sorting through what's staying/going and getting current values/recent sale info and so on. The stamp will not be a part of this local estate sale. So thank you those who have been understanding and realize I am sincere in my request. I will suggest the August show - that sounds like fun.
