Revcollector, I do not expect to find anything, I never said it would have a watermark! I said water marking process, what that means is I always in my examination of any stamp always run the stamp in question in the right and proper examinations I do. The water marking process is a value tool not just used for finding a water mark. Since you raised the stitch watermark statement, I never, repeat never have any idea or preconceived notions what the stamp in question will have, I always start any stamp examination with an open mind.

So then"

Watermarking equals when a person wants to confirm status and type, and orientation of a suspected watermark. (and if necessary measure the size)
Water marking process equals when a person using this process in an extensive examination of a stamp!

Any comments about ebay dealers always showing the reverse side of their stamps they offer?

One of my main examination protocols is the reverse side of a stamp!

So, you'll just have to wait until I conduct the right and proper examination of this stamp, then I will provide my finding after they are completed, not before!

Cheers

Dave

1. I am not a dealer. I am a collector who happens to sell his duplicates to bring in funds to buy more stamps. I spend far more on stamps than I receive. Every stamp/document on my website, with the exception of (1) some of the items on the plate varieties pages, and (2) many of the items in the bisect census, are items currently in my collection. The website *IS* my collection... well at least the revenue portion anyway.

2. I do not plan to start scanning the back of every stamp I sell, with the exception of silk papers, for which I always try to include high-resolution images showing the blue threads. There just isn't enough time to show the backs of $5 stamps. When I purchase from dealers online or the APS store online, I don't get to see the backs of every stamp. I try to accurately describe all faults, and if I miss something, I will certainly allow returns for a full refund.

3. If it is silk paper, then congrats! You got a good cherrypick. I'm certainly capable of missing something as much as the next guy, and I admittedly do not scrutinize fronts of stamps as closely as I do the backs when hunting silks.

Revenuecollector, I see.

1. You list stamps on the auction on ebay, so you are not a dealer, ok!

2. Its my wish all dealers, oh sorry, person who puts up for auction stamps on ebay would no matter what the value would show an image of the reverse side. But guess this is asking too much, I guess I understand. So if you a stamp has a value of $6 you will be showing the reverse? Fair enough I guess.

3. Point well taken, and thank you.

Sorry, but you'll just have to wait until after my examination of the stamp in question, a right and proper examination.

On average monthly how many stamps do you think you have up for auction on ebay?

Cheers

Dave

Again, thanks

Most of the people selling stamps on ebay are collectors, not dealers.

Seriously? I hope that was an attempt at humour (if you use emoticons aka "smilies", it helps people determine whether you are joking or serious). Otherwise, no, that is NOT what I said.

I rarely do auctions. I have a store subscription and usually have 300-400 fixed price listings active at any given time, although not all are stamps.

Revenuecollector, you said "There just isn't enough time to show the backs of $5 stamps." So you meant something else? I'm a simple old man, I'm trying to figure out what you said and meant. If you meant something else just come out and say it please. I'm not trying to do anything but understand this!

Again, I'm a simple man, do not understand what these emoticons are supposed to reflect. I see them sometimes but they just appear to be junk to me, and show no information!

I think my original posting has reached its end, I see no reason to go on and on and on.
